Theme: Evolving Refugee Management Systems: A Humanitarian and Development Perspective.
About: The Refugee Insights is an annual informative magazine published by the Refugee Consortium of Kenya (RCK). The magazine focuses on cross cutting issues around refugee management in Kenya, EAC and the IGAD region at large, IDPs and the host communities.
Authors: The magazine offers unique opportunities for refugees, students, junior, mid and senior career professionals in the humanitarian, development, and private sector to contribute evidence based articles, conference reviews and abridged reports with practical solutions to emerging issues and trends around displacement.
Guidelines for authors: Authors are invited to familiarize themselves with our content, thematic focus, style of writing and quality of work. Articles focus on policy-oriented, topical and significant issues that contribute to and inform policy development in Kenya, EAC and the IGAD region. The 2022 magazine welcomes submission of articles under the following thematic area: Evolving Refugee Management Systems: A Humanitarian and Development Perspective.
Our magazine content is categorized into letters to the editor, articles, reviews and commentaries.
Language and format: All content should be in English and submitted electronically. Font: Garamond – 12, justified.
Length: Submitted content should not exceed the following word count:
• Articles and conference reviews (800 words);
• Letters to the editors are limited to (300-500 words).
Submitted content is reviewed by the Editorial board for approval. Due to the high submissions, only authors whose articles will be published are notified.
Content submitted including letters to the Editor may be revised to meet our style of writing while striving to retain the main author’s message.
The editor reserves the right to edit submitted articles.
Referencing: Contributors should strive to give factual statements as the Magazine relies on the credibility of the authors. Our published articles do not include footnotes but authors are advised to send in articles with appropriate references to support facts and statements included in their pieces. References should be listed at the end of the document.
Author’s profile: Prospective authors should include full contact information, name, short bio (not more than 20 words) and a passport size photo. This should be sent alongside their submitted content for consideration.
Timeline: Contributors who wish to have their articles and reviews considered for publishing should send in the content by 23rd September, 2022. Articles and other submitted content, editorial and inquiries should be sent via email address skuyoh@rckkenya.org.
