I am delighted to announce the appointment of Barlet Colly Jaji to the post of Executive Director of Refugee Consortium of Kenya. He will be assisted by Catherine Njoroge, the Programme Director, and Anthony Wesonga, the Finance and Administration Director.
Barlet has excellent leadership experience in humanitarian Development and Peace nexus programming for more than 15 years, and more recently in his work as the Country Director of HelpAge International, Head of Programme/Humanitarian Programme Manager with the Ukraine crisis.
Barlet’s credentials include an MA in Development Studies specialized in Organizational Development, BA in Social Sciences and Diploma in Microfinance and Community Economic Development. He brings strong skills in organizational development, strategic direction and leadership, programme quality and learning, programme management, partnership approach, resources M&E and learning management, stewardship, operations management, representation, and communication, safeguarding among others.
Before joining Tanzania and Ukraine crisis, Barlet was the Country Project Manager/Representative for AAH – International in Somalia where he was managing emergency and recovery programmes implemented in different parts of Somalia.
Prior, he worked as the regional projects officer with Salesians of Don Bosco Development Office Eastern Africa Province (SDB-AFE) in Nairobi, Kenya. He was responsible for supervising Tanzania, South Sudan, and Kenya projects. Also, he was the focal person for refugee projects in Kenya for the Salesians of Don Bosco in Eastern Africa.
Additionally, he was the Program Director in charge of graduates’ program and deputy principal at Saint Aloysius Gonzaga School for HIV/AIDS Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Kenya. Before, he worked in Kakuma Refugee camp as an Income Generating Coordinator, as the overall responsible for the administration and management of the Livelihoods project for the socio-economic integration of Refugees and host community.
We are very much looking forward to working with Barlet in leading Refugee Consortium of Kenya into the next phase and in building a strong, agile, and adaptive locally led development and humanitarian structures that will protect and promote the well-being, voice, and dignity of the displaced and host populations and to take forward 4th RCK strategy in Kenya and beyond.
